Sometimes is compare computer evolution to human mind evolution or see similarities between booth. Today let’s have a look at the width of bits in available hardware. My first computer was a C64, just after a programmable calculator from Casio. It has a plain 8 bit platform with a lot of TTL logic arrays and 8 bit memory, the software was also 8 bit. Soon newer chips got 8/16 bit support, they where able to run both modes. Mid 90’s we see the same evolution form 16/32 bit, when for example windows 3.x was replaced with windows 95. But always where big struggle in users and software companies. The user points to the non existing higher software and the software houses points to the users that don’t provide 32 bit operating systems. Now around 10 years we have the same problem with 32/64 bit, where huge memory and wide processing power depends on a 64 bit mode, but again the software houses are struggled to place 64 bit products out. For example the 64 bit firefox was stopped and reverted by lack of user support. While users install windows 32 bit on their 64 bit machines to be “more compatible”.
The game is around narrow minded users and company leaders, to point with the finger into the mirror, to block evolution and future. Peeking into message boards you can read users fighting for their beliefs that 64 bit software can’t be faster than their 32 bit counterpart. But processing longer terms in one step and addressing more already installed system memory is technological fact. By the way the same fight for belief can be seen in the question of multicore support or singlecore on today multicore computers.
Points to a single question, are our masons and elitist in order just the long arm of peoples willpower, to prevent future and evolution? Are the unwilling of people to open and widen their consciousness and mindset the same problem?
